Ingredients
  

For Salisbury Steak:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • ¼ cup onion finely chopped
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For Mushroom Gravy:

  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For Mashed Potatoes:

  • 4 large potatoes peeled and cubed
  • ½ cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

Prepare Salisbury Steak:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper.
  • Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  • Shape the mixture into oval or round patties, about 1/2 inch thick.

Cook Salisbury Steak:

  • Heat a skillet or frying pan over medium heat.
  • Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
  • Remove the patties from the pan and set aside.

Prepare Mushroom Gravy:

  • In the same skillet, add 2 tablespoons of butter and sliced mushrooms.
  • Cook until mushrooms are browned and tender.
  • Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and stir to combine.
  • Gradually whisk in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  • Cook, stirring constantly, until the gravy thickens.

Make Mashed Potatoes:

  • Boil the peeled and cubed potatoes in a pot of salted water until fork-tender.
  • Drain the potatoes in a colander and return them to the pot.
  • Mash the potatoes and add milk, butter, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.
  • Serve: Place the Salisbury steaks on plates, ladle mushroom gravy over them, and serve with a generous scoop of mashed potatoes.
