  • Tongs

Ingredients

For the Meatballs:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ¼ cup breadcrumbs
  • ¼ cup fresh ginger finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 egg large
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes adjust to taste
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Sesame Broccoli:

  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds toasted

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Prepare the Meatball Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped ginger, minced garlic, egg, soy sauce, sesame oil, crushed red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  • Shape the Meatballs: Form the mixture into meatballs, approximately 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake the Meatballs: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the meatballs are cooked through and golden brown.
  • Prepare the Sesame Broccoli: While the meatballs are baking, steam the broccoli until just tender, about 4-5 minutes. In a skillet, heat sesame oil over medium heat. Add steamed broccoli and soy sauce, tossing to coat. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the broccoli is well-coated and slightly caramelized.
  • Serve: Arrange the ginger meatballs on a plate alongside the sesame broccoli. Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds over the broccoli for an extra layer of flavor.
  • Garnish and Enjoy: Optionally, garnish with additional chopped fresh ginger and red pepper flakes for added heat. Serve the meatballs and broccoli hot.

Notes

  1. Experiment with the level of spiciness by adjusting the amount of crushed red pepper flakes.
  2. For a complete meal, serve over rice or noodles.
  3. Make a double batch of meatballs and freeze the extras for a quick and convenient meal later on.
